Marionette Puppet Workshop

Only a few spots left! Salila Andrea, with Krambambuli Puppet Theater, will be leading a how-to Alaskan animals marionette workshop. In this workshop you will be guided to create a two string Alaskan animal marionette.

BOOtanical Music Together Mountain Song

Join us for a stroller-friendly BOOtanical musical tour of the garden for families with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. We will sing, dance, and jam our way through the half-mile paved garden loop.

Tai Chi at the Garden
Saturdays, October 4th, 11th, & 18th
11:15am - 12:15pmJoin Tai Chi instructor, Richie Goldstein, for an hour-long Tai Chi class every Saturday this July in the Garden! Every other week you'll practice the Yang Style 24-movement Tai Chi and Tai Chi Sun style.

Winterizing Your Garden
Sunday, October 5th | 12:00 - 1:30pm
Join staff from Boreal Bioscapes Garden Service for a hands-on workshop that will cover everything you need to know to get your gardens ready for winter. Stroll through the gardens while learning about fall tasks such as soil testing, fertilizing, composting, mulching, cleaning up vegetable gardens, and cutting back perennials.

Haunted Cauldrons
Saturday, October 11th | 1:00 - 2:30pm
Learn how to plant and design your own miniature spooky indoor landscape. Use succulents, and natural materials to plant and cultivate a ceramic cauldron. Learn how to mold and score polymer clay, as well as how to use beads, and wire to create mini figures that float, creep, or crawl across your tiny garden scape.

Whispers in the Garden

Join local author, music therapist and speaker, Katherine Haghighi, for "Whispers in the Garden: A Unique Writing Experience"! Together, we will explore writing in the garden, going beyond “how do I” or “what do I write about.”

Seed Saving Workshop
Saturday, October 18th | 1:00 - 2:00pm
Join Christine Wilcox, owner of Spruce Tip Farm and Nursery, for a seed saving 101 workshop. Participants will learn about how, when, and where to harvest seeds, and how to process and store them. Focus will be on seeds that can be readily grown in our Alaskan gardens.

Pumpkin House Carving
Saturday, October 4th | 1:00 - 3:00pm
WORKSHOP FULL
Transform an ordinary pumpkin into a miniature house and add enchantment to your fall decor. Learn how to carve and adorn windows, doors, roofs, pathways, porches, steps, and swings. Use natural materials such as moss, pinecones, branches, stones, pressed flowers, and ferns. -

ABG Donor Wall
The Alaska Botanical Garden only grows with the sun, the soil, and the ongoing support of our generous community. Consider a lasting gift by purchasing a leaf from the ABG donor wall sculpture. Contributions will be honored with a personalized, engraved metal leaf and make a great gift for friends or family to celebrate an important milestone or to honor the memory of a loved one. -
Repurpose Nursery Pots
We accept used pots in the following sizes:
Round: 1 gal. and 2 gal.
Square: 5.5”, 4”, and 3.5” (tall only)Clean pots in good condition can be dropped off with staff during open hours.
Pots left at ABG without staff awareness will be taken to the landfill.

Nationally Accredited Meconopsis Collection
Commonly referred to as Himalayan poppies, the genus Meconopsis is composed of fuzzy, flowering plants native to the Tibetan Plateau.
